I recentlly painted my bathroom and when I painted at the edges at the ceiling, I got paint there and now I'm not sure how to remove it. It's a water based paint, and I want my bathroom to look neat.

With no offense to you or others who answer I have a suggestion. First of all, don't beat yourself up,,,smiles.

After applying thousands of gallons of paint, I suggest you mask the wall and repaint the ceiling.

I offer my theory. When painting a wall, one should paint to a space approixmating a 1/16th of an inch,,,certainly in a straight line (masked first) away from/down from, the ceiling. The reason? Ones EYE often looks into corners, and again with no offense, when "using" a bathroom, one might have time to gaze upward to the ceiling.
Our EYE can be "fooled" much easier by the ceiling color,,, usually white, bleeding in a straight line, down into the wall color. Obviously it has to be masked unless you can accomplish my theory free hand.

Most obviously my theory applies to painting a ceiling first and not worrying if its color gets on walls. It also applies to any multiple colors used in any room. In your case, you're kind of doing it in reverse.

Don't bother with "cleansers" as anything you use will degrade what's likely a NEW wall color. Buy 2 inch BLUE painters masking tape. Gently, after the wall color has cured, apply the tape in a straight line,,,even investing in cheap plastic drop cloths adhered to the low edge of the tape line, THEN if you must, use something like KILZ to cover the errors, then roll the ceiling in it's appropriate color. Once finished, GENTLY roll the BLUE tape away from your Edge, before the ceiling paint cures, and you should be OK with the result.

I am a painter , been in the buisnes over 20 years and the best thing to do would be to touch up the cieling. Trying to clean it off will only open a can of worms. If you have any of the original cieling paint use it to cover the spots you dont like. If cleaning is your only option DENATURED ALCOHOL works well on latex (watwe based) paints. Keep in mind you're trying to remove paint from an allready painted surface(the can of worms) trying to remove the unwanted paint without removing the cieling paint is next to impossible. so save your self some unwanted work and touch up the cieling.

Go to a paint store and tell them you need some "Goof Off". It is a liquid made for exactly what you want to do. You put a little on a clean cloth and wipe off the paint. Costs less than 5 bucks
