I have a 93 Chevy Blazer with a 4.3 Vortec engine, its overheated and needs replacing. After looking at junkyards for a replacement, most used motors had high miles....so would the same 4.3 engine out of a 99 Blazer fit, i know the intake manifold would have to be changed, but what else...thanks

yes it would but you would have to use your 93 heads and intake manifiold. It is the same engine block. The vortec will have roller lifters and possibly a better cam and roller rockers. I have been doing research myself being that i am going to rebuild my 1993 4.3 out of my full size 1500 model w/t. Chevy dont change alot of things blockwise. There engine block design is basicly the same as from the 1950s . A 4.3 is basicly a chopped 350 block.

Also your engine may say it is a vortec but the true vortec wasnt until 1996 my cousin has a 94 that says the same thing but its not a real vortec

It should swap out with out any problems .the difference in some 4.3 V-6 engines is some vin code engines had balance shafts in later years.also i think the oil pan was cast aluminum instead of steel.

did it start to run roughly at low rpm's before it stopped running, if so than the EGR valve is probably clogged. the fuel pressure regulator or fuel spider as someone else suggested could be it and you will still get good fuel pressure if its the problem, but gas will mix in with the oil. so i would check the oil. usually the motor will still run, but it will suck gas like crazy, literally about 5 mpg.
