Not really, unless your mattress is worn out and you sleep on your belly, then yes because you spend the night in a bad position for your spine.
Try to check the mattress, if the condition of it is OK then try to sleep on your side with a pillow between your legs.
Back pain is sometimes caused by poor abs, try to strengthen your abs also and relax your back muscles by doing a simple exercise like laying on your back on the floor and flexing your legs towards your chest and hold them with your arms .
You can also buy at the pharmacy the hot patches , they really work.
Good luck and if all this doesn't work, get an XRay, you could have some bone structure problem.

It can. Only if you are in a position that is make you back out of line. Sleeping is good for your body to relax so I think as long as you sleep with a pillow in between your legs and that you make sure that your back is straight that ou shall be fine. Good luck!

not exactly sleeping, but laying on your back for a long time can cuase back aches because you back is stiff and doesn't get stretched out. if the back aches continue too happens even after you change the amount you lay in bed, it is probably the way you are sleeping or the postion that you sleep in. you could be sleepign funny. hope this helps!
