If the reason you are having a d&c is because of heavy or prolonged bleeding than it should lessen the bleeding and it will stop within a few days. If it is for a miscarriage it will take about a week to 10 days to stop.

Basically, yes - a D&C involves scraping the inside lining of your uterus (which is what's being shed during your period). I had a problematic period once that wouldn't stop, they did a D&C - I maybe had spotting overnite - but that was it, that period was ended with the procedure. It does not mean that you will end all future periods, just the current one.

not forever...you might have some bleeding for a bit, but then you should have your regular period the next month or the one after, depending when the d&c was in your normal cycle.
