I have been using other POP3 e-mail providers, and it was awful. One suddenly stopped delivering e-mail, and showed zero messages, though people replied to mine; the other after a short use announced that my password as not correct (though it was correct 15 min ago), and the reset password page did not work; yet other did not allow you to log in after the registration; the other did not allow to send messages (some bug on their system).
Now I got gmail; is it ok, or will messages and password and things disappear with them as well?

Yes it is reliable but not 100%.

Gmail is fabulous.

It is the quickest mail service i've ever tried, beating yahoo!, fast mail and even my university's mail.

Gmail is really quick, super easy to use and quick to learn! It also saves your drafts every minute and this saved me a thousand times.

I've recommended this to my friends and NONE dislike it.

I do not want to make this answer long but TWO THUMBS UP for GMAIL!

I have been using it for over a year, no problems, pretty good on blocking spam also. Plus reliability isn't always the receivers fault. Could be the server sending it, or the millions of bounces between.

I don't like when Gmail bundles all the messages from same person into one long message and then it is impossible to separate them if you want to print or save separately each message. So I use Outlook Express and print each important message on paper. Don't trust any email providers as messages and folders do disappear. Also I don;t like that Gmail does not allow creating custom-named folders.

gmail has been pretty reliable so far. it was done couple of time for few hours but them recovered. anyway, it is always a good idea to keep another copy of the things that you might need.
