Yes...and it can be effective. It can boost testosterone levels naturally in the body. Nothing drastic, but try it and see what the results are for you. I was pleased with the results.

I've never heard of any side effects of maca. Since it is considered a food not a herb belonging to the potato family grown in peru, i'm sure it is ok. It is especially known to balance hormones. I love Maca!

I tried it for menopausal symptoms, specifically looking for relief from hot flashes. I took Nature's Way capsules, 350mg standardized root extract w/ 35mg dried root, 1 cap 3x daily.
It did not help me. But I've used other things, like Dong quai, that didn't help others in my acquaintance. And some people swear by things that might as well be sugar pills for me. I've learned that peri-menopause is different for everyone & even what works for me now might not work next year. It was worth trying, IMO.
