For the past 2 days I have had low back pains. It is NOT a consistent ache - it's more like random pangs that disappear as quickly as they come.

My due date is tomorrow. Is this a sign that labor is going to start soon?

I've lost the plug, and have had a lot of thick white discharge.

It could be a sign that labor is coming soon or it could just be a backache/pain. You should be having the baby anytime now. Good Luck & Congratulations in advance.

Usually losing the plug is a sign of it coming soon. I lost mine days before anything happened. If the discharge is continuous I would be a little concerned (only because I never experienced that before). False labor pains can start very early in the pregnancy and usually mean nothing. toward the end it could be your body is preparing for labor and delivery. If they are sporadic I would not be too concerned. Once they become consistent then worry. Please do discuss the discharge with your physician. Congrats!

no you can get those back pains throughout the whole pregnancy. everyone will tell you that you will just know when you are going into labor but this is not always the case. I just had my second daughter after seven years and i forgot what it felt like. i wanted to know when labor would start just like you and people actually made fun of me for the question because they all said you have to be dumb if you dont know when your in labor. but in the end my water broke. i only had very minor pain and lots of pressure but i just felt like i had to go to the bathroom really bad with pains that you get when you gotta go that bad. when i got to the hospital i actually asked them if it was my water that had broken because i still was not sure if i was in labor or not. hang in there though. if your not sure and feel that you might be in labor then go get checked. better to go than have the baby in your home. some labors do progress very quickly as mine did once i got to the hospital it was two hours and she was here. also people say to waite until they are a few minutes apart and regular but mine were very irregular. sometimes they would be every minute and then all of a sudden i wouldnt get a contraction for like eight minutes and i was 8 centimeters dilated and in very active labor. just get checked. it cant hurt and besides its nice to here your baby on the fetal monitor anyway. just to reasure you that everything is fine.

Low pack pain is pretty common, it's not really a sign of labor. You will have regular painful contractions, if you can't move during a contraction and it hurts then you'e in labor. If you leak then you need to head to the hospital immediately.
I had REALLY painful back pains towards the end, I ended up going almost two weeks over my due date and ended up having to have a C-section.

It's not the plug they worry about infection after. Its your water. After it breaks you are not to sit in water or have sex. As for lower back pain it could be a sign labor is on the way but personally I've had lower back pain on and off for the last month and a half.

Silly girl get off the COMPUTER...you are in labor!!!! Go rest because you have a very very long journey in front of you, delivery and then bringing home a baby....you are already in the first stages of labor, they begin when you lose your plug but now you have low back pains...I would suggest getting off the computer go sit down and call your doctor, explain to him whats going on...because we do not all experience labor the same way, your labor may continue in your back until you are ready to push, then your stomach will contract!!!
