Because we are selfish and believe that our way is the only way. When we have enemies or yes even some know it all friends, we see they're difference as a flaw and we see failure as natural revenge - It somehow makes us feel better about ourselves. In someway just thinking about this I now see it as Competitive.

Why not? Because we are jealous and we want to see them fail, I guess it's human nature.

It's human nature. We feel superior to them when they do badly. We feel there is justice when they get what we think they deserve. Sometimes we even feel this way about our friends.

its basic human nature, if we see them fail then we veiw ourselves as being better and thus we feel good
