That aliens are at the center of all the developments in the past century and control the worlds governments.

In order to conceal their presence here on Earth, they have kept up the charade by keeping things progressively moving ahead as they had been for centuries, but added certain key scientific discoveries, like space travel, GPS, cell phones, computers, Internet, etc. to aid their eventual takeover of the human civilization.

Their minions, like G. W. Bush help further their cause and divert our attention from their real purpose until it's too late for us to do anything.
