Hi - My partner and i are ttc our no1 togeather, although i have 2 that i made before i met him ;-) - that we are bringing up togeather. So we're hoping for no 3 this year! ... i stopped smoking 3 yrs ago and have put on weight, lost some and seem to be stuck at the mo, i've never been skinny, and i have the opertunity of joining a group with a trained Hypnotherapist for a six week course to help to lose weight. i will talk to the therapist about being preg. (i hope) or ttc on the first evening - but i am curious as to what you guys think?????

NB. this question is not about weight lose ... it is more about the effect of hypnotherapy while ttc or pregnant - i wondered if anyone else actually had any experience of this... thanks
btw. i am not hugely overweight in that it would effect conceiving and i already eat a healthful diet and exercise reguarly - including Iyangar Yoga.

You should lose the weight BEFORE getting pregnant. It's is not recommended to diet while pregnant. Instead of a hypnotherapist try a yoga class which you can stick with through your pregnancy so your weight gain can be maintained and your body will be prepared for the physical aspects of labor.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

There is no either/or when it comes to yoga and hypnotherapy. You can enroll in both to get the maximum benefit. I'm considering taking this course; if you have the time and money, I suggest taking it too.

do your grocery shopping with a list and a time limit that way you re less likely to stray into the processed foods section
