some grants have stipulations. You can not have other grants with this grant for the same thing. Some grants say if you go to school you must maintain a certain GPA. It all depends upon the grant.

First of all, good luck getting a grant these days! But no, you don't pay back grants. That's why they are called grants rather than loans.

Of course not! The U.S. government gives away money like a drunken sailor. Helping those who are truly in need is a good thing, and should be part of the government's responsibility to its citizenry. Helping those who already have piles of money is nothing more than the worst kind of welfare: corporate welfare.
Grants for underprivileged people, low-incomed individuals, special needs persons, and those who are otherwise challenged, should be a privilege. Grants that politicians dole out to rich corporations in the forms of tax breaks, bail-outs and rewards for mismanagement should result in someone going to jail for a long, long time. -RKO-

You don't pay back grants. Those are money set aside for a certain purpose. If it is a loan, that has to be paid back, but grants never are.

Grants are free. You never pay them back. If it has LOAN anywhere in it then yes, you will have to pay it back. But government grants are wonderful, without them I wouldn't be able to go back to school because I wouldn't ever be able to pay them back (I have 3 kids). So, no, you will definately NOT have to pay them back.
