well, it's never too late to make a run -- BUT i'd rather have my team miss the playoffs for 1 season, instead of making a trade that'll hurt the future.

really, who wants to 'just get in' and go out quickly, and have traded away key players, draft picks etc, only to pick up an over-priced player who didn't help WIN THE CUP and doesn't fit in with the chemistry, and might even be gone the next year.

I think the oilers will make a run at it, but they're in a pretty deep hole right now. They're 8 points behind Minnesota with just 23 games left. They're in the middle of a 7-game road trip right now, and have a six gamer to finish off the season. But I wouldn't count them out yet. If the Oilers an get hot and finish off the season with 15 or 16 wins, they will have a good shot at that 8th shot. I wish them luck (even as a Flames fan I'd rather see the OIlers (as a canadian team) than Minnesota)

With Forsberg off the market now it really hurts the Oilers chances. Especially since he went to a Western Conference team. I highly doubt the Oilers will make the playoffs this season. They just lost too many players during the off-season.

Im guessing that the current top 8 teams in the west will make the playoffs. Although Im sure they will get juggled around a little before its all said and done, I think the top 8 will remain the top 8.
