What is the best IT job that makes alot of money? I work as a programmer with Java/Web programming. As the IT world now is booming, and it's easy to learn programming (easy to get the material), there are more jobs of IT now, so the competitiveness is high. . So it's like, it's hard to be a success in this field.
So, what kind of IT job do you consider successful? And how do i do to get there? Thanks.

There is no such thing as a "Best IT Job". If you are currently a student I suggest to focus on whatever field you feel you can excel in. In the end of the day, it is your level of expertise that will determine your salary.
There is no rule that states that a network administrator will get paid less than an application developer. However, statistics do show that database administrators tend to get paid a little bit higher. There is not guarantees though.
The answer to your question also depends on the country you live in. In my country for example, there is more demand on the web developer than on the database administrator.
If you are looking for a field that statistically will pay you more, then go towards database administration, in particular data mining & Business Intelligence. This is a relatively new emerging field which is supposed to pay you well.
Lastly I would like to advise you to do what you're good at.
Hope this helps.

The best job is one in which you do not place yourself in direct competition with, say, programmers in Bangladesh who can make a good living at 1 percent of your minimum rates. That means, get the heck out of IT because you CANNOT eliminate that possibility.
I am studying building systems engineering technology, because there is lots of demand in Montreal, and it's not feasible to outsource the design and construction of HVAC systems to the Third World; thus, I have a reasonable expectation of demand for my services in the future.
My previous career was in print design and pre-press; that industry has been utterly demolished by excessive labour supply. So I learned my lesson!

No matter how much competition you face there is always value for quality. So what ever you do, you need to keep trying to improve quality of your work.
With that said, few jobs in IT which will pay you more :
- Architect
- Technical Management (Team Lead, Project Lead, Project Manager)
- Vice President Technology
- CTO
All the best and keep trying.

Developers can make a lot of money, but many of these jobs are going overseas to develop large ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems and more and more companies are turning toward ERP systems. Database administrator jobs are not outsourced as much. You always need DBA's and they get paid extremely well.

The best path to success in the IT world is to do network installations. Start your own company. Let the admins. and code writers fight it out while you keep making money doing installs.
