Hello.

The specifications per pin 1(+) 2(D-) 3(D+) 4(Ground). Thats while you are looking at the end of a cable with the terminals on the top.

go to the board manufacturers websitwe and download the book and scroll thru it to the board pin out for the usb

usb dont just have positive and negative it have for wires.
+5vdc, -data, +data and ground.
