It's called torque-steer, and was quite common on some earlier front-wheel drive cars with big engines. Your brakes are probably OK, but you should check your tire pressures and have a front end alignment done to reduce the effect.

First, check the tire pressure. Next, have a front end alignment. If the alignment doesn't work, something is bent, which the alignment people should notice and tell you.

Sounds to me like you have a brake caliper that is sticking and not releasing properly or your front end is out of alignment.

Sounds like you need to get your tires aligned. Take it to the shop, they can do it for you.
