The panzer division did the impossible. The corps managed to go through the Arden forest bordering Belgian and France, then hook around and headed west to pin the English and French armies at Dunkirk forcing them across the English Channel. The French were totally caught off guard by how fast and efficient the panzer division was. They thought there was no way in hell the Germans could get through the dense forest with tanks. Of course, they were wrong. And the rest is history.

My neighbor in the USA was a Knights Cross holder in a panzer, later infantry division. He commanded an assault gun type Marder III with 9-kills: T-34's incl. one Stuart lend-lease and with the Stug III had 29 kills (one sherman lend-lease "Sherman" the rest T-34's plus 12 trucks and 3 anti-tank guns on the Russian front.
His tank was knocked out 3 times. Once by a lend-lease Sherman the opther two times was by 76-mm anti-tank guns.
