There were already a number of mathematics awards in existence at the time Alfred Nobel created the testamentary disposition which created the Nobel Prize. His intention was to encourage pioneers in the different fields. Where there were already a number of prizes in a given field, no additional encouragement was needed.

Nobel didn't choose mathematics as one of the five areas to receive money in his will.

It doesn't sound like Nobel was being mean spirited about it, although there are some good stories to that effect. Economics has been added to the list, so maybe math in the future?

Right now, the biggest away a mathematician can earn is the Fields Medal

WITHOUT THE PRESENCE OF MATHEMATICS U WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO OPERATE UR COMPUTER BECAUSE MATHS IS EVERYWHERE, MATHS IS EVERYTHING, MATHS IS MOST POWERFUL WEAPON AND U CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE A LIFE OF HUMAN BEING WITHOUT MATHS. FOR EX HOW MANY FINGERS U HAVE IN UR RIGHT HAND UR ANSWER WILL BE 5. AND THAT IS MATHS AND AND ALSO WITHOUT MATHS THERE WILL BE NO EXISTENCE OF PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY, NOR U ALSO OR ME OR ANYONE. SO NOBEL PRIZE IS NOT SUCH A BIG THING TO DEFINE MATHS. MATHS IS ALONE A MOST POWERFUL ALONE SYSTEM IN WHICH WE LIVE.
