yes, a DSL modem will require a phone jack, then a NIC or USB wire will attach to the pc...if you go wireless to your pc, than your pc would need a wireless card, or usb reciever.

If you have a dial up account or DSL, you will need to use the phone jack. If you have a Internet provided by a cable company, then you will need to be near cable outlet. You should consider getting a wireless router though so you can put the computer anywhere in the house.

depending on type of internet. DSL uses the phone jack. Cable uses a standard coxal cable. And satellite is overexpenive and should only be used if you cant get DSL or cable. DSL should be the cheapest...and by far the fastest. (cable is shared, and other people using it in your area will slow it down alot). if you have any questions IM me at wicked_lunchbox. :)

Ask the owner for permisison to characteristic a jack, or perhaps ask them to characteristic the jack. you are able to bill the owner, however the owner shouldn't pay you for it and in case you withold it from the hire, a clever landlord will deliver you a word of previous due hire. in case you install it, you are able to pass away it for the subsequent tenant. in case you run a line for the jack, you are able to nicely be billed via the owner for its removing, and in case you screw up on the installation, you're in charge. I had a tenant who replaced into drilling by using a wall to run a telephone line and went by using a water pipe. OOPS! He ended up paying a $six hundred+ bill for maintenance to the pipe, the wall, and the floor ... partly by using fact the fool did not on the instant turn the water off and what could have been minor became significant.

No your ISP should give you a broadband modem. However you will need an Ethernet card installed. Or at the very least a USB hub.
