Well I can't remember that particular act, but Shakespeare used dramatic monologue very successfully for his protagonists in many of his plays. Othello is another good example. Basically we rarely bare all of our true thoughts, feelings and fears to other people. This gives us the opportunity to really find out what the situation was like for her and the agony of her choices. This wouldn't come across as well in a conversation with another character, as she probably wouldn't feel able to be so open, and the other person would give comment and interrupt her flow. Besides, she really is alone in this situation - Romeo isn't at hand to speak to, and she cannot confide in anyone else. Her monologue highlights the fact that she is isolated and alone.

monologue is more effective to make us, the readers, understand more on the inner conflicts that she has.... if W.S did it using dialogue, then it will be another character or chatacters that will be having the conversations with her.. and having the other characters will make the readers being influence by their dialogues and they tend not to think freely...
