The same source for all criticism...lack of knowledge - not in the culture but in how to properly respond to those differences.

For some of the same reasons other cultures criticize ours and others outside their own....human nature to criticize that which is different, especially if they don't understand it.

People (in general) like to think what they have or how they live is the best, but especially if they are unsure that is true, by criticizing others it helps them feel better about what they have.

It is not just U.S. citizens that do that. Travel just about anywhere and you will find that each culture critiques/criticizes other cultures. It is endemic to humanity. Unfortunately for the yanks, we are relatively isolated from other countries, having to vast oceans to the left and the right of us, and the wonderful countries of Canada and Mexico to the north and south of us respectively. We can travel 2000+ miles and still be within the United States. Not many yanks have had the opportunity to engage people from other countries, especially in another person's country.

Ultimately, we often criticize of which we know little.

Not all 'americans' are that way. The ones that do probably do it for a variety of reasons. Most of it could just be ignorance, and also the unwillingness to do some research to see exactly what is going on. On the other hand, some 'americans' may know more about what is going on in other countries than the people who gripe at them.

i'm not american..but people in general i think we criticise coz of our own insecurities..and telling other people whats wrong with them in a way alleviates our own burdens. its all in the selfish nature of humans..and our need to feel good about ourselves. pride is a destructive factor that contributes to harsh criticisms. i dont know if that answers your question..but thats what i feel.

human nature, and alot of Americans are just judgemental overall, and it makes it hard to open up to have true understanding of others. people seem to run away from change or new environment, but its alot of times what people need to grow and become wonderful ppl.

Lack of true creative thinking patterns. To critize is the opposite of to create, so those who can't create, critize. It's like the saying, "Those who do, do. Those who can't teach."
