These days, with Mac OS X on Intel, there are certainly more advantages than disadvantages to owning a Macintosh. The problems with Windows Vista are further fueling the rapidly growing Mac user base. More people are buying Macs than ever, and it's a great thing. I switched to Mac after using Windows XP for a few years. I was a PC user for many years, starting with DOS. I'm very happy that I made the switch and I'm very excited about the future of Apple and the Macintosh.

There are common myths that PC users will tell you, like Macs lack software or you can only use a one-button mouse. These things aren't true. They also tell you that Macs are secure because of it's "low market share". Again, not true. Mac OS X is based on UNIX, which is well known for being a secure operating system. Who should you believe? Well consider the fact that most PC users have never touched a Mac, yet a lot of Mac users have either switched from the PC or have been forced to use a PC for one reason or another. Simply put, Mac users know the differences that lie between the PC and the Mac, yet every day, we choose to use a Mac.

Simply put, the advantage of owning a Mac is knowing that you have a secure, stable operating system that's fast, simple, intuitive and beautiful. There's a plethora of software for the Mac, you just won't find it at your local Wal-Mart. Would you go to Wal-Mart for parts to your Mercedes Benz? I didn't think so. You'll find Mac software at your local Apple store or online in Apple's online store. You'll also find that there's a lot of great Mac software which you can download. There's a lot of great free software. What kind of downloadable software? Check out these links:

All in all, I know you'll love a Mac.

Historically the Apple Mac computers were the elite computers.

PCs were the cheaper computers which due to their mass production were sold in higher volumes to businesses and households. However, the operating system which they used (MS Dos) was vastly inferior to the graphical user interfaces (GUIs) which had been developed by Apple.

Apple computers were however very expensive and their use was mainly confined to the homes of wealthy people and also certain niche industries such as graphic design studios and film studios who used them to make movies.

However, everything changed with the advent of Microsoft Windows, an operating system which was heavily based on the Apple GUI (Apple unsuccessfully sued Microsoft because it claimed that Microsoft had stolen its GUI). From then on the PCs could claim that they were as good as the Apple Computers.

However, individuals like myself, who use both platforms are still of the opinion that Apple computers are far superior. Their GUI is far more user friendly than the Microsoft version and the sheer complexity of data crunching which Apple computers are able to do is far beyond anything which the PC can manage.

Apple computers have also come down in price due to the fact that Apple decided to try and fend off the threat of Microsoft Windows by competing in the mass production market as opposed to the elite market.

They are a lot the same, but I've been doing a lot of research because i have a PC and i want a mac and it does seem like macs are better. And people rate macs better. Oh and most of the bugs in macs have downloadable fixes on the apple web site.

PC's are less expensive, easier to upgrade with aftermarket parts, and software is more readily available for Windows. They are more suceptable to viruses and spyware.

Mac's are less suceptable to viruses and spyware, and have better graphics capabilities, and now can run PC op systems. They are more expensive, can only be upgraded with Mac parts, and software is more difficult to find.
