If the democrats truly believe that Iraq is such a quagmire, hence their "non-binding" resolution, then vote to send our troops home, if not, then let them have the TIME, MONEY, AND PERSONNEL, to do the job and do the job right. You can't have it both ways. If you think that the war is wrong send our troops home, instead of whining, like Obama, that we are "wasting" their lives. The troops agree that it will take TIME and lots of it, why are we not listening to the troops, and instead listening to the back and forth argument and twisted logic of the two stupidest parties known to men?

I do believe we have made many serious mis-steps in Iraq. But squabbling about who has the power to start wars (a democratic senator, I can't remember who, said several days ago, that if bush wants to start a war, then he has to go through the senate)...the president according to the Constitution, the troop surge, and funding, is working against us. These terrorists and insurgents look at this and think that our resolve is weakening, and strike back much harder than before.

If you haven't figured it out, I am with the soldiers on this one...not the politicians...boots on the ground much more important than people with gold spoons in their mouths

They want to relive their popularity heyday when the sabotaged the Viet Nam War and cost over 58,000 young men their futures not realizing they are once again tearing the country apart.

As a veteran I can tell you that I'm sick of the Republicans claiming that we can't leave Iraq because we "haven't won yet."

Pay attention - It's TOO LATE TO WIN this! That window closed a couple of years ago!!! Duh!

What part of Bush f**ked up this war don't you understand?

He didn't send in enough troops to begin with! He didn't give them enough support! BUSH SCREWED UP THIS WAR! IT'S LOST! FACE REALITY!

Now, you want more troops to die? Why?

You think we have an unlimited supply of people brave enough to sign up? You ready to have a draft? You ready to put your a** on the line? Your kids? Your grandkids? How many members of YOUR family are you willing to lose?

Notice how many members of the Bush family are serving in the military? NONE! What does that tell you?

We can't have Congress "embarrass the president"? Why the hell not? He's embarrassed the country, caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, and made the world a much more dangerous place.

Unfortunately democracy works slowly. Right now we're seeing how many republican senators will still bail from their side on Iraq and support us. More each day. Getting the political power to stop the war without causing a constitutional fight or triggering vetos is the best way to end the war, and hence support the troops.

I can not answer for the rest of the Democrats - But the way I see it is that the majority of violence in Iraq is between their two secular factions there - the Sunnies and the Shitties and since this is the case - why in good sense should we be having our troops killed needlessly there and why in good sense should we continue to be putting our hard earned tax dollars down this cesspool to waste and squander them?

We should be spending our money here in America on all of the people and issues that need to be addressed and not on anothers countries religious differences!

History shows us that this area of the world has been fighting between themselves over the last four thousand years - do you really think that the USA can change this and bring peace to this region? If you do - you are not a realist!

Quit deluding yourself into thinking that we're somehow aiding the terrorists by exercising our democratic process. That's not the case and even if it is, allowing our enemies to scare us into inaction is not an option, as much as Bushites would love to convince you it is.

The democrats can't push through anything other than a non-binding resolution for now because they need Republican support and they have to work around a presidential veto as well. When it comes time for a funding renewal, though, they'll have several options for stopping this crap.

I believe thats exactly what Hilarity (pun intended) Clinton is doing. She voted for the non-binding resolution, and also voted to send them better flack jackets.

Time is needed for only one thing....for the Iraq government to stop sitting back and getting fat off the money we are sending them and start to rule their own country. It takes 6-8 weeks to create an American soldier worthy of fighting in the most gruesome wars. How long has it taken Iraq? Too long in my opinion. I say we give their government one more year to get their sh** together, and then leave. I'm sick of watching our young men and women die because two different sects of Islam can't get along with each other.

The democrats are wasting time and money w/their talk... I agree w/a previous response, they base their policies on public opinion... maybe if the members of Congress didn't waste so much money they would have plenty of money to send to our troops and support the military...I bet if each member of Congress got rid of one or two staff members there'd be plenty of money to support he war in Iraq. I also think Congress People who are on the campaign trail should not be afforded their full Congressional Salary when they are NOT conducting Congressional business!

I agree. They have wasted our tax dollars voting on something that means nothing. Nothing is going to change in Iraq because of this resolution. IF this was done to show that they don't support this war, it has already been done, it's been noted who is and isn't for this war....They won't cut funding for the war because that will fall back on them. Reguardless, even if we win the war in Iraq, the dems won't agree.

What's funny to me is that most of these people that are out their yelling about the war are the same ones who voted for it to begin with.

I'm sick of hearing that Bush dragged us into war. The government voted and gave Bush permission to go.

Now you see why the Dems wanted the military vote thrown out in Florida in '04. They know they are on the wrong side of the military and the war.
