My Oscars are sick....ICK?

Question

I got some medicine for my oscars called Ick-Attack Its says to add 1 table spoons per 10 gallons i have a 60 gallon tank.... so i put it 7 spoons..... it says to increase dosage by 50-100% if the infection is very bad...... how do i know how bad the infecting is... both my oscars are acting fine and eating and not acting odd at all they just look like the been salted... ( little white spots all over them) Please help im very woryed i love my oscars. :-(

First, just dumping a chemical into your tank once won't cure ich. You have a computer, find out what ich is and how to properly treat it. Hint: it's a parasite an if you don't treat it propoerly your medecine will only make it worse. Use the seach engine.----PeeTee

If they have more than a few spots on the fins, its bad. To help with treatment, add a tablespoon of aquarium salt per 10 gallons of water and increase the temperature of the tank. Do both of these things slowly over the course of a day so the fish aren't shocked by a quick change. The salt kills the ick when it is in the free swimming stage. Make sure to treat your tank for 2 weeks after you see the last spot on the fish because ick goes through a life cycle where it drops down to the gravel and reproduces and it needs to be completely killed or it will come back in a few weeks.

I am so sorry I love my Oscars also. I would be very upset if anything happened to mine. How do their gills look. Are they different then usual.Are they purple or redish? I hope everything works out.
