i have an old crock with a lid that was dropped and a piece is missing , how can i repair this?

You can patch it with plumbers putty. After you mix it and form it, it will withstand high temperatures, moisture, etc. And it cures out as hard as steel.

How about etrting some clay and moulding it to the pot then painting it!
