Hi, my computer has a tendency to turn itself off and back on again sometimes. It has only started doing this since I upgraded my memory to 1Gb from a 256MB. Any ideas?
Thanks

May be buggy or damaged memory. You also might have the memory timing settings incorrectly set for the memory in your BIOS. or it might be an unrelated overheating problem developed after you opened your case. Try the old RAM and see if the problem goes away.

Make sure that your CPU fan is not unplugged, make sure that it is clean. Check the system temperature with a software utility to make sure your computer is not overheating. If your fan has died you can find a new one here:

If your CPU has run for an extended time period without cooling it may be fried you can find a replacement here as well:

Good Luck....

The usual causes for random shutdowns are:
1)Overheating triggers auto-shutdown to protect the CPU;
2)Memory module going bad;
3)Power supply going bad.

Check your computer mfgr. or Video Card mfgr. for video driver updates. Out of date video drivers is the most common reason for this problem.
