It probably has something to do with the fact that as a species we are not able or capable nor are we able to handle such a historical moment. Any species that has the technological ability for inter stellar travel must be very advanced both technologically and socially. Therefore they may rules governing first contact. Imagine if aliens had given Adolf Hitler technology that was far more advanced then what was available at the time. History and the world would be very different. This is an extreme example but effective none the less.

who knows?
there are several ways to go with this-
-UFOs are real, they're just 'unidentified', so there's no way of saying exactly what they are or where they come from. not great evidence for 'extraterrestrial visitation'.
-from a logical viewpoint, we 'earthlings' can't barely get along with people from other countries, would you as an alien believe that we could get along with people from another planet?
- who can say that they're not already here? "angels" from the old religious texts were said to look like humans. perhaps evolution on another planet happened in the exact same way and they look just like us 'earth humans'?

Not quite sure if as a human species we are ready. Many peopel freak out with tiny things like spiders--- do you really think we would all be calm if aliens roamed wild?
If not, then I guess within the next decade or so we will catch a glimpse of your aliens, eh??

They are waiting for earthlings to mature and be of a higher intellect. If I was probing the tennants of this planet, I'd bail and come back later. Case in point: America, we had a larger voter turnout for American Idol, than our last election. Would you call that signs of higher intelligence. That is precisely why they have not made themselves known!

They can't travel here anymore than we can travel to them because of the vast distances in the universe. Unless intelligent beings in the universe devise a way to travel much faster than the speed of light, there's not much hope of aliens showing up anytime soon. A time travel machine may solve the problem eventually.

I think "They" are here now and as the saying goes "Walk among us". I think they have been here for a very long time. I think they are grooming us and educating us to a level where we can interact with the rest of the galaxy.
I think that we have made great leaps in technology due to them. You can see where we travel at a slow pace in advancement then all of a sudden we made great leaps in a short moment of time.
I think we will see them in the next 50 or 75 years. But that is my opinion. Hope this helps?

If you were them, would you introduce yourself to people like us? You could get shot in the face by some high government official, even after you became friends with him.

They have made themselves known to me. There is a park behind my house. Once or twice a month a space ship lands there. I go out and talk to them and answer their questions. They are quite friendly.
