Do you mean banning? I think if they put a ban on pitbulls they need to put a ban on other dogs as well. There are more documented cases of german shepards bighting than pitbulls. They will have to do away with the little ankle bighters as well. The people who are housing and breeding pits designed for aggression are going to have them regardless of a ban. All a ban will do is take away the pits that are in good homes with loving owners.

No. Banning a specific breed because it has a "reputation" is not a solution. The pit bull ( actual breed name Stratfordshire Terrier) is not a villain that our children need to be protected from, it is the people that train this breed and Many others to be mean( many are used in pit fighting, hence the nickname "pit bull") that should be banned from owning any animals.
Just for more info the Stratfordshire Terrier is highly regarded in England, they are actually good family dogs but like ANY animal( or person for that matter) they will behave the way they are train and treated.

I own a pit bull and she is the sweetest, most gentle animal. She is that way because of how she was raised. The problem that people have with pit bulls is that some owners train them to fight.
The owners are the ones that law enforcement need to go after. Not the innocent dogs. Our town tried to ban them at one time and over 300 people showed up with their pit bulls.....all of whom, behaved very well. Needless to say, the ban was not enforced. So, yes, absolutely go after the owners who are training these poor animals to fight......try to SAVE these animals, not ban them.

I completely agree with the above answer. ALL dogs bite but its the Pits that get the bad rep. I owned a American Staffordshire Terrier and she was the sweetest thing. She loved people and I would take her to hospitals and nursing homes to be around people. More Pits should be used as therapy dogs then people would see their real nature.

your just as likely to be bit by a lab as you are by a pit bull. it's all in the care and training. any dog not properly trained will most likely attack. if they ban pit bulls they should ban all dogs.

I think that if you take proper care of a dog and keep it under control there wouldn't be any need to ban any dogs at all.

I don't think they should be banned. I have never met a "mean" animal, only animals who have been made "mean." Most vicious dogs are mishandled and even beaten to make them "protect homes" and to make them fight and look tough. I think they need to be on the lookout for people who mistreat their dogs to make them "mean" instead of banning them altogether.
