Description

The cheetah has a slender, long-legged body with blunt, semi-retractable claws. Its coat is tan with small round black spots, and the fur is coarse and short. The cheetah has a small head with high-set eyes. Black “tear marks” which run from the corner of the eyes down the sides of the nose to the mouth, keep the sun out of the cheetah’s eyes and aid in hunting.


Range - Asiatic Cheetah's extend from Sub- Saharan Africa and Northern Iran.

Habitat -They live in treeless plain , medium, and long grass plain, bushes , tall grass, and other large plants.

Diet -They eat mainly gazelles, impalas, game birds, Hartebeest, rabbits, young warthogs, Kudu's and Oryx.

Status - Cheetahs are going towards extinction. In some areas 50 to 75 percent of all cheetah cubs die before 3 months.

Reason for this status -This happened because of loss of habitat, poaching and illegal taking care of the animal.

What type of animal is it - It is a carnivore.

Gestation : 90 - 95 days

Longevity : 12 years
