soak in washing machine that you dumped a bunch of liquid fabric softener. Then dry in the dryer, hanging them up always makes them dry stiff.

Wash them, and when they go in the dryer, throw a tennis ball in the dryer.
We do this and have softer jeans the first time we wear them.

When I was in the Navy we used to soak our new dungarees in the salt water, if faded them a little and made them really soft. Otherwise just wash them a few times, they will eventually break in.

Put a a couple of tennis balls in with them while in the dryer. Add a couple of fabric softener sheets as well.

Rinse in good fabric softner and put in tumble drier with afew rolled up pairs of socks (wet socks)
