I don't think my heater is working correctly, the air just feels luke warm when it runs and it seems to run a long time. How hot should the air be coming out? Should you be able to feel the heat?

It is an electric heater. It is a 2 year old house and I change the filter each month so I don't think it needs clean. My house does maintain get warm and stays at the temp I set but it runs a long time and it is lukewarm. I would expect it to at least feel like a car heater with warm air coming out. I have scheduled a visit from a tech to come out. My electric bill is crazy high.

My in-laws have this same thing. Only luke warm air. And when they were at our house, and felt the hot air, they were surprised. But they don't worry about theirs because the house is always warm and their bill is not outrageous. So maybe it's different models of furnaces.

Do you have a heat pump w/ electric strip heat?
Has it ever felt hot coming out of vents? It has been mighty cold lately.
If you are using a fuel furnace, something is wrong.
If the strip heat was burnt out of a heat pump, the air probably wouldnt feel warm at all, but this would depend on how cold it is. All a heat pump will do is take the cold out of the air in your house, and if your house is draftly, lacks insulation, it will work hard.
Best call a technician.

sounds like your air vents need to be cleaned out and the furnace needs cleaning too.Always in fall you need the furnace checked to make sure it runs properly . i had the same happening and found that the burners where very dirty and my vents got cleaned too . After this tuneup my furnace was running more efficient

If it's an electric heater then you have one of the heating elements burned out. We had same problem.

you should be able to feel warm air, you might need to have your air/heat system checked, if you own your place, if rent contact your landlord, while an initial expense that some avoid,, its cost much less to get it working right then to have it constantly running

Another thing could be leaky ducts so your heat is being wasted on the attic. this could be a cheap thing to repair.
another thing is the cleaning and maintenance 2 years is time enough to perform a deep cleaning on the whole unit.
