u need to contact a vet....4 months and its still swollen, and not taken to a vet..... what kind of owner wounld leave their animal like that without being smart enough to take it to the vet. i am sorry for being rude but if u cant be smart enough to take it to a vet then maybe u should not own the horse. and if it has to do with money, there are many vets that will work on payment plans with u so ur animal gets the care that it needs.

So what has your vet said? You don't report on that and it is an important consideration. What part of the country are you in? You could take him to vet teaching hospital for another opinion, you will find them staffed with supurb vets and believe it or not, they are usually CHEAPER than your local equine vet. In CA there is the university of Davis Equine hospital, in Colorado there is Colorado State Equine Hospital, and in Pennsylvania there is the New Bolton Center. There are others, those are the three I am very familure with.

Sounds like you need to keep working on this diagnosis and get with a specialist.

well ...if he seems to eat and drink and doesn't have any other condition that has risen due to the accident causing him to have decreased functionability I would say go with it. Know that that area will probably always be fragile and tender and to take extra care when putting on gear or moving locations. If he does bop it and you notice discharge or he stops eating or it swells more I would take him to a vet immediately. those are always signs that higher treatment needs to be sought asap. thanks hope he gets better.
