I think it depends largely on who you ask. If you ask the people who are likely to get arrested for acts of domestic violence, then they would tell you, Yeah it's being abused. If you ask the millions of annual victims of domestic violence, they'd say it is fine the way it is. Having been a victim of domestic violence in the past, I can tell you that honestly, I DO think some law enforcement officials abuse the law, when it comes to domestic violence. My 16 year old son was arrested for domestic violence for hitting his 14 year old brother, who provoked him. It was ridiculous, because brothers are going to fight, that's the way it's always been.. BUT in our current climate of political correctness, and "Big Brother is Watching" any common sense when it comes to these things goes right out the window.
So....I think the law is basically good, but misused by over zealous law enforcement in certain instances.

Time out her !
Practiclewizzard (sp?), this is a two way street. it is not only men beating up their wives, but it is also wives beating on their Husband.
If people would treat each other as they wish to be treated, we would have no need for Domestic Violence. But we all know domestic violence is here to stay and anyone who mistreats their spouse or children needs to be handled with harsh reality.
Can't we all just get along.....God has Blessed us all, NOW show it and quit domestic violence.

in my opinion...if idiots would stop beating their wives and children, we wouldn't have to enact a law that COULD be misused.
