In season 2... when Desmond got let out of prison, didn't he get dishonourably discharged from the military? Then in this last episode... he doesn't have any military experience on his resume? No entiendo.

that's because he did not go into the military at that time.

OR it was just a vision and what we see happened did not really happen.

If you noticed, near the end of the episode, he stopped beside a military recruitment center. My bet is that he has not enlisted just yet and will in the future.

That whole episode was mind boggling.

I think that episode happened before he joined the military. Remember towards the end of the show when he walks past a recruiting place and he paused for a few minutes in front of it? I think if the show had continued on from that point instead of returning him to the island, he would have joined up then. Maybe this will be shown in a future episode.

When desmond turned the key to shut down the hatch and it blew up he was 'sent back in time' of sort to re-live what had or what was suppose to have happen with him and penny.

In his sort of a vision he had not gone in to the military or had sailed around the world for the contest.

Remember the lady in the jewelry shop telling him that fate has a way of correcting it self. ?

In his vision of going into the past to relive things, desmond saw charlie , pennys father was sponsoring a contest to sail around the world and he saw a poster of advertisement to go into the military.

It was ment to show desmond that no matter what he tryed to do he would have to lead the path he was ment to lead. By going into the military, getting out the way he did, going on his sailing and getting onto the island the way he did.

He DIDN't have military experience at that point in time, but maybe he joined after he dumped that girl and before going on that trip around the world because he was destined to (and thus, it was unavoidable). I think everything that happened in that last episode was a long long time ago. Eventually, I think that he ended up getting back with the girl and to win her father's approval, he joined the military and went on that sailing expedition. That's just what I think

SPOILERS - do no longer examine THIS answer in case you probably did no longer see the two/14 episode.... He can no longer circulate decrease back in time - he sees forward in time. Do you undergo in recommendations the jewellery shop woman telling him approximately what grew to become into coming for the guy interior the pink footwear? That grew to become into forward-looking - she ought to warn him yet finally his selection may be up from something else. Desmond saved Charley no longer by utilizing going decrease back in time yet because of the fact he foresaw the lightning and saved him, and then the drowning and saved him... yet he advised Charley he can no longer provide up it continuously. As for the instruct, you and others indexed here are suitable - it is attending to be like X-documents and twin Peaks yet back, distinctive unfastened ends and absence of a narrative arc.
