Last year I was really into the historical fiction genre... The Secrets Of Jin-Shei, by Alma Alexander, is a beautiful story, set in medieval China...and it's my favorite book. I loved it.
Otherwise you could try The Birth of Venus and In The Company Of A Courtesan both by Sarah Dunant.
In Lucia's Eyes by Arthur Japin (I really enjoyed this one).
Also Mirror Mirror and Confession's of an Ugly Stepsister both by Gregory Maguire were pretty good.
These are the historical fictions I liked most...Good luck!

You can go to Amazon.com and search:
"Lost from Atlantis Book 1" - Book 2 is coming out soon, Book 3 is in editing and will be out soon too.
"Death by Murder David Lindsay" - you have to search that way. There's a lot of sex in it.
and "Super Spaghetti."

They're all available for free right now through Kindle Unlimited, which you can get with a free trial - Google how to get it. Then you can read it online or with a free Kindle phone app if you don't have a Kindle.

Anything by Philippa Gregory or Susannah Gregory. PC Docherty's historical whodunnits are great fun too. Best of all, for a novel, if you haven't read Georgette Heyer you don't know what you're missing.

Ken Follett's The Pillars of the Earth - traces the building of a cathedral throughout several generations. Great historical fiction.

Depends what you like really. I'd recommend:
Jodi Picoult - My Sister's Keeper (or any of hers)
Cecelia Ahern - PS I Love You (or any of hers)
Alice Sebold - Lovely Bones.
Craig A Lewis - Testimony.
Ben Elton - Inconceivable.

Sorry none of these are historical but they are brilliant reads!

Any of Robert Louis Stevenson's novels. They're historically accurate and the stories are interesting. I didn't read them til I was an adult and I found them interesting.
