ok i notice that when i get into a chat room some people know what state i'm in, How do they find out? do they track my computer down or something how ? well, I was in a chat room called 321 chat and it has happened in serveal others ....so i lied about the state i was in 2 be safe but some how they told me no and told me where i was at i got shocked ..and scared. How can i prevent them from seeing my computer information or anything that tells them where and what state i live in. PLease HElp I don't want my computer 2 be looked at or tracked by no one please please also for my little sister that always gets on the computer i don't want them 2 be un safe i will appricate it if you could tell me what 2 do or what 2 block so i willbe safe THank you very much

sorry about askin alot of times but i started 2 panic...lol they siad they were gona find me.... i s there anyway i can prevent this hide my IP adress or something?

i shouldnt worry about it, if they read your IP address somehow then they can find out where you are within a certain large area. Say for instance you IP address begins with 123.4, then that may say which state that computer is currently in. However they may not be able to locate your exact house, or even town, unless they are a full on computer expert. If you want to be safe for sure then i suggest you quit the chat rooms so you can sleep at nights.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. People can do a whois on your ip address and find out what state you are in but you also have to consider that there are probably a few million other people in your state also. You can't block your IP, and if you did have a stalker, that knew which state you lived in, he'd still have to go through the whole state to find you and your little sis... Don't worry honey, if somebody scares you just don't go to that chat room anymore.

They probably made an educated guess from the IP address your account is tied to. You can look up you ISP and with that assume you are where the ISP is. The only thing you can do is not worry about it (My option) or use a proxy to hide behind.

Judging from the number of exclamation points, you're porobably under 15 and have no business being in chat in the first place. yes you are in danger and you need to go find something else to do, like sports ar art.
