Well this is a strange question, and not an easy one to answer. First it depends on the person whom you are trying to deceive. How well they know you and how much attention they pay to small things. There are many give aways when a person lies things that you don't know that you do when you are making something up. For example it is common for many people to avoid eye contact when they are making up a lie.

Don't laugh, make sure you keep eye contact natural-don't avoid looking at them but don't stare either.
Also helps to make the lie either close to the truth or close to what the person wants to hear. If you enjoy fooling people and can stay relaxed it's easy.

I think Linda J is right. The truth is good. Lie'ng is bad. If its not a harmless (and think HARD about this) little white lie. Then don't lie. It's not worth it. Anyway, the truth wil come out sometime, somehow...

You'll always be found out in the end.
If you need to lie then its better not to say anything at all.

Believe the lie to be true from the core of your heart. That's the only way.
