Hey, I looked into this myself and after talking to a few people I was advised to do an intensive diploma in each. If you live in Sydney or Brisbane, there a private Journalism colleges with a one year diploma.... these are named Macleay College and Jschool. Both have great employment stats. Then there a one year fashion diplomas at both tafes and private colleges. What's great about this pathway is it will only take you 2 yrs fulltime. It was recommended to me because unlike university they offer very specific training which is highly sought out by employers. The websites for the two Journo colleges are:
http://www.macleay.edu.au/journal.html (Sydney)
http://www.jschool.com.au/ (Brisbane)

Another website which you will probably find helpful is www.myfuture.edu.au where you can search for careers and then click on 'related courses' etc.

Hope this helps and good luck!

G'day,

It is pretty much the same system in Australian universities. However you will need to check the course information in every university carefully since it may have the same name, but different contents. Since journalism usually part of the Faculty of Arts course, there are usually quite a good flexibility for students to combine major/minor from different area (eg. business or media studies).

I suggest for you to go to IDP Education Australia website, where you can get information for the universities that offer journalism. BTW... IDP is an organisation that gives info to overseas student who wants to continue their study in Australia.

Hope this helps. If you have any further queries, you can e-mail me on mikegun@studentfirst.com.au. Good luck on your study and welcome to Australia.
