i dont get it. armed forces such as the army, navy etc..each person only makes so much in earnings,i heard it was like 2 or 3,000 a month that they make, also they may get paid college tuition, but the men and women put there lives on the line..anyway my point is,why is it that major basketball and baseball players make so much just for throwing a ball around, millions each year, while people that fight for our country make peanuts compared to that

here! here! besides the fact that the DOD has the largest chunk of the federal budget, only a minimal amount goes to the personnels...most are spent for R&D and hardware purchases...also, even if the incentives they get aside from their basic pay and bonuses, the risk is still not worth the salary! i almost believed when i read this sticker: "SOLDIERS - SOLDtoDIE." that's why despite what is happening in iraq? i have such respect for people who are on the front line...fighting for a meagre pay.

Basketball players don't get paid by the government. If we paid our military personnel 20 million dollars a year we'd probably have about a 100 armed forces, then we couldn't even defend ourselves agains an attack from Canada. Then again, those who join the military know what they're getting paid, and they're joining anyway. They're not demanding millions of dollars.

Liberals have been fighting conservatives for years to improve military pay, benefits, health care, etc.

The conservatives treatment of our service people is disgusting.

You're right, our military people ought to make more money than they do considering the military budget.

I think teachers should make more money, too, but tax payers seem to have an issue with it.
