I strongly feel that Australia have learnt a lesson or two from the beatings they got recently and try to regroup themselves for the world cup.

Since cricket is a game of uncertainties as has been proved on many occasions, nothing can be predicted for sure about the outcomke of a tournament in advance.

While South Africa are hot favourites top win the world cup, even their victory cannot be guaranteed as the present form does not matter and what matters is the form during the world cup. Whichever country play to their potential consistently stand a chance to win the world cup. As it stands all the top 8 teams sgtand a chance to win the world cup[.

It will depend on the results of both ourselves and South Africa. I am disappointed that our win in the Champiosn Trophy did not give us more of a lead over SA, but that happens. Well done to SA who have been a very strong ODI team in the last 12 months.

For Australia to get back to No. 1 ranking, they will have to win the World Cup to start. If SA dont make it past the Super 8's, then a World Cup win will see Australia back on top straight after the final, otherwise they will have to wait for South Africa to lose a few games to get there.

Indian X - Check your facts first please!!! Brett Lee has NOT retired!!! He is only injured!! As for Shane Warne, he has not played a ODI for Australia for 4 years!! We won the last World Cup without him, and until now were still no.1 in the world without him!! His loss will be felt more now in TEST matches.

As an Aussie let me just say i know all the nations are waiting for us to fall from the throne, and this will probably happen at some stage in the near future but let me remind you that N.Z hasn't won a odi series since v1983/84 against Australia and even if we don't win the world cup this year our side is never that far away from having another great side, and we don't need that long of a rebuilding period to have a successful side with the depth we have in Australia's domestic competition.we already have 3 world cups and if we don't get won this year be assured we aren''t that far away from our 4th-not like N.Z who has none and none in the immediate future.

Australia has a real serious problem since your best cricketers retired - brett lee and warne - your famous consistency is somewhat missing and I have followed all of Australia's games since the Ashes series - in a TENSE one-day series such as the World Cup this is not going to be your field day. Though I appreciate new seasoned players coming up from Ozland .

As for India, it is my favourite this time not because I am from India - but considering our recent victories against Sri Lanka and West Indies - and a final settlement opf Cricketing controversies - such as the Chappell-Ganguly fracas - the team has matured and is in PEAK form - we have fiery pace bowlers such as Munaf patel and also the best batting line-up.

With CONSISTENCY, India is unbeatable. Since it's a world cup, Australia will also pull up its socks and try to match well - but they will face very STIFF COMPETITION this time from India
