well two pets im not allowed are a cat, cause my dad is allergic to them and a dog, because we had one and it didn't work out. The pet has to be not too expensive to buy but fairly high price so i know it is in good health, it can't be too difficult to look after as i can't be with all the time because i have school and stuff, and not too expensive to loook after any ideas?

get a hamster. The are great pets and cheap to maintain. They don't take up a lot of space either. You can take them out of their cage to hold them and play with them. I have had many and they are great pets..

How bout a rabbit or any other kind of rodent (EX: Hamster, Guinea Pig) or maybe if you like birds get a bird. Do you like reptiles? If you do then get a turtle, snake, or iguana. You could get some fish. Do you have an exotic pet store near by? I had a skunk and it was a great pet. I'va also had chinchillas. Would you mind having a spider in your house. If you don't then maybe get a Tarantula. Do you live out in the country with a lot of land? If you do then how about a goat? And I have a kinkajou. You might like one of those. I hope this helps with your selection.

I would recommend a rat (or 2 because they're very social animals - just make sure they're the same sex!). Rats have a bad rep, but they're very clean (spend a large majority of their lives grooming themselves, and no need to bathe them), very intelligent, and affectionate. They can learn their names and come when called and can also be trained to perform a variety of tricks. They're also very cheap (not only in buying one, but food and bedding are also inexpensive. The most expensive thing you would buy is a cage). They also have a lifespan of 1-3 years so if you can't commit to many years in caring for a pet, that's ok. They also don't need regular veterinary care.
I personally adore rats and think they are the perfect pets.

the more exotic the animal the more care it will require, and the more money it will cost. remember some animals will live a LONG time, so if you plan on going to college in a few years you don't want to lumber your parents with an animal they don't care about.
i would recommend a fish tank, but they can cost a bit to set up and will need weekly cleaning without fail. if you decide on this option visit the forum below to get tips to avoid newbie mistakes and fish deaths. who knows, your parents might enjoy the idea if you set the tank up really nice.

Price has nothing to do with health. From your lifestyle and what you want, I don't think anything exotic would be a good idea. Animals cost money and are work.

if you want a fish- i recommend a clown fish or an angel fish
you can also try hamsters or guinea pigs
- hamsters are not that expensive i think you could by a pair below ten dollars. although it dies early if you don't take care of it. i have some hamsters and they are really entertaining me when i put them in their maze set
then if you want a guinea pig- i recommend teh Peruvian guinea pig i have that one.
but the best for me are dogs
chow-chow and shi-tzu are the best

get a ferret, they pretty much act just like a cat. Its great! they are fun, smart, and they have a personality, unlike a more......sedentary pet.
