its a very weird pain that can only be understood once experienced! i try as hard as i can to remember how much it hurts but i just cant i know that the contractions hurt like hell...i was running around like a chicken with its head cut off but the actual giving birth didn't really hurt at the time except when the head came out and that burned like nothing Ive ever felt before its crazy though cause the rest of my baby coming out didn't hurt one bit! My mum said that the body and brain is programed to forget the pain quickly otherwise no one would have more than one baby!! I'd probably have to agree with her and ihave noticed alot of people who can remember the pain and describe it as unberable only have one child!

Hi, honestly I think it depends on how long your labor is. With my first son who is 12 years old, it was horrible, It was in labor for over 13 hours!! I hurts more than you can think. With my second son my labor was less than 3 and a half hours. And of course it was very painful. I got an epidural both times, but I think I could have maybe made it through without one with my second son. Who knew I'd go so fast with him though. Here's what it feels like to me, horrible-horrible diarrhea cramps, where you feel you are going to lose control. And it lasts for a long time, it seems at the time. You wouldn't think that contractions would make you feel like you might die, but they do. haha! I am due in June with my 3rd baby (a girl) and I am more nervous this time than with the others. I will say this, if you get a little exercise during the last few months it will make you feel better during labor and delivery, I promise! You will make it, when you see the baby, you really do forget (for a second) what you just went through. Good luck!!

If you get an epidural you only feel pressure which I compare it to getting a tooth drilled with local anesthetic. Kind of an annoying pain like that more than anything but yet the most beautiful thing you could ever experience.

I also dont consider myelf to handle pain very well. So maybe this would encourage you :)

Best wishes and good luck.

That's like asking, how long is a piece of string?????? No one can prepare you for this, same old answer, everyone is different, every birth is too. But you can guarantee only 1 thing, there will be pain! Good Luck

Very painful. But also very worth it. And mother nature does this neat little trick of making you forget how much it hurts so that you'll do it again lol.

It hurts really really badly! But the hours spent in labor are easily forgotton when you meet your baby :) The love is stonger than the pain :)

Giving birth was long & intolerable for me but i know women who have given birth easily & some with bad but managable pain. Guess it depends on you & the progression/nature of your labour. It will be quickly forgotten so don't worry.
