I know how to find it blindfolded but still did not quite understand the two above.

Go to START, L click CONTROL PANEL, then L click DISPLAY.

L Click SYSTEM, then HARDWARE, then DEVICE MANAGER, then DISPLAY ADAPTERS

Now you Right click your video card that is listed or displayed there and click update driver. Real easy.

Now here is the catch. Most computers have integrated video chips (like a video card) built into the computer. That should be the first one listed. In HP, it is called the Grahics Controller. That should have a red x signifying that it is disabled.

IF you have a video card that was put in the computer, then it will be the second one listed. Again, just R click this, and click update driver and wait a few minutes.

Now since you asked you may not have a video card in your computer. But to find out, download Belarc, which I prefer, to tell you what you have inside, even the name of your video card , again IF YOU HAVE INSTALLED one.

INFORMATION SITES
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html -- info on computer inside
http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
http://www.crucial.com/index.asp -- info and price on memory

Bookmark these sites. The first two URLs are really good. They can explain intergrated graphics and lot of other stuff.

Check the download section at these sites for free downloads too.

Find out the name and brand of computer and go to crucial where they will tell you how much computer RAM or memory modules you need. Unless you got a 10 year old computer then forget it.

your video card is a intergral part of your p.c and to find the type ect you need to go to start>control panel>disply properties>settings>on this tab you should find your garphic card and type of monitor used,it will be just below the resolution adjustment bar
its a good chance its one of three types of card 1.nvidia 2.A.T.I 3.Intel
once you have found your make of card you then need to download the appropriate driver,i will give you the direct links to each manufacturer
nvidia drivers:http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp
A.T.I drivers:http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html
Intel drivers:http://www.intel.com/support/index.htm
once you have downloaded the appropriate driver, then you must first remove the current drivers to avoid conflicts, then restart your p.c,then install the current drivers
allways use proper drivers, never use beta drivers(except for windows vista),after you have installed the drivers restart your p.c again, your screen may flicker and go black after the restart, dont worry this is the drivers configurung themselves
also during installation,if asked any questions about your card not being microsoft certified, just click continue anyway
if this is the first time you have updated your graphic drivers then you should notice a marked improvement in quality of graphics, especially in games
any problems let me know
good luck

There are a million and one sexy software ways of interrogating your video chip but the easiest way is to take the lid off your PC and have a look at the big black bug nearest the svga socket which will have Cirrus Logic or Ati plastered all over it. Drivers are best from the manufacturers but if they aren't available then there are sites like http://www.drivershq.com .
