You could cut them down to a few inches, drill holes in the top of the stump and peel back the side if the bark and insert a crushed crystal called RootOut available from the garden centre. Then you cover it up in a plstic back and let it kill the roots. Dont use Diesel as it is harmful if it gets into watertable. Or as other people mentioned give them free to some1 who will dig them out themselves or ask a neighbour for a hand!!

Cut them as close as possible to the ground. Cover the exposed are with a mix of dirt and manure. Plant grass seed, and mow. The mowing will keep anything from growing, and the roots will eventually decompose, as you keep killing the new growth.

Girdle them: remove 1" - 2" strip of bark from the circumference of the trunks. Round up the exposed area - optional. When they die, cut them down. Eventually the roots will decompose. good luck.
