what do we define as love the feeling we experience as we watch over our children, the feeling some of us get as we watch the worry lines and stress fade from our partners face as they sleep alongside us, the joy in someones face as we say i love you, the feeling we have seeing our granchildren for the first time, the emotions we feel as we achieve success, the ones we feel as we go off on some mad daring hare brained adventure, at what point do we recognize it is now love and not just caring.

Firstly there are many forms of love and the whole purpose of the word love is that it is undefinable. I summarises so many things and is different for each person.
I think that many don't know what true love is and gauge their feelings for others by how it makes them feel.
I don't think real love is selfish but rather a gift
If you love someone it doesn't matter how they feel about you. You will always do what is best for them and sometimes that can mean leaving their lives. Ultimately when you really love someone you would always put their well being above your own. If you can't 'hand on heart' say you would do that for someone then you may have strong feelings for them but I would not class it as love
Love (or its equivalent) is probably the most over and misused word in any language. People say they "Love Pizza" or some random star they know nothing about.
I love people in my life and I don't always tell them this but I know they feel loved by me. Sometimes I think that too much emphasis is put on the word and not enough on our actions. I would rather feel loved by someone, even if they don't think they do love me, than hear the word a million times.

A long time ago I thought that love was something that you reserved for some special set of people that you had judged worthy of it.
After a while I got to thinking about what Jesus had said about turning the other cheek and loving our neighbor I put the two together and realized that he had made no exceptions in these statements. It became obvious to me that he intended that we exclude no one from the love that we are supposed to be giving. I started thinking about my idea of love and suddenly realized that I had not been loving anyone at all. I had simply been judging everyone and every thing.
Judging someone worthy of love is not love, it is only judgment. I actually started to cry when I realized this. I saw just how much of my life I had wasted being judgmental, thinking of myself as a Christian, when I was actually doing just the opposite of what Jesus had asked us to do.
I thought about the verse judge not lest ye be judged, and I understood it for the first time.
I realized that I have a lot of catching up to do. So many opportunities were wasted. I now try to apply the love that I have for the world in a universal way like Jesus asks us to do.
If I start to feel afraid and think that I see someone that I should not love because of something I have thought or heard I try to catch my mistake as soon as possible. I tell myself that I have forgot the truth and have fallen for the same old trick that had cost me so many opportunities to be loving in the past. The horror of this realization is often all that is necessary to bring me back to my senses and make me drop the judgmental nonsense I was thinking.
I still have a lot to learn about love, but at least I’m making progress.
Love and blessings

Well I don't have any children or grandchildren but I do have a boyfriend who I am crazy in love with. The definition of love is loving someone no matter what, taking the good with the bad and loving every inch, every cute freckle, love handle and mispronunciation. Admiration, adoration, trust, companionship. It is not being able to get through the day without the one you love.
....it's that warm fuzzy feeling in your heart, butterflies in your tummy, that grin you get from ear to ear when you think of the one you love.
Sorry for any queasy tummys i'v caused!

Everyone creates his own definition of love. For me it is a great passion that includes not only sex but also mutual reverence, favourite books and films, sense of humour, ability to listen to each other and understand. But passion is the base of any love

With respect to God it is the true faith in the awareness that his thought is the only true Bliss that is sought by the soul.
With respect to this self it is the wanting to be the best human with health wealth and material happiness.
with respect to our family to be there when any one of them needs me.
with respect to society to be helpful to all its members.

You just simply know it's love and not caring...you can feel it in your guts and it makes your heart ache in a welcoming and yet heartwrenching way.

love is when u really, really like someone and maybe at first you think you just like them but then maybe something happens (like they forget to call u, or you can't find your kid for a second in the supermarket or you just imagine what life would be like without that person) and you know its more than like............way more than like; so you call it love
