My laptop can't handle the adobe softwae (premiere & after effects) so I am thinking about buying a desktop computer. Mac/Windows OS; no preference really.
I'll be buying it second hand so nothing top market please.

Also, is there anyway of using my laptop monitor if I have the CPU of a more powerful computer?

Thanks :)

I meant using my laptop monitor in conjuction with the the monitor (as a double screen) - so the workspace is not so crammed on one page.

I will say that a MAC is designed with video editing in mind. However it will cost you more and there are some programs that don't run on a MAC. Yet if your primary use is video editing then it may be your best choice. Video editing can be very intensive and I would not like to do it on a laptop at all. You get more bang for you buck with a desktop and I feel they are a lot more comfortable to work on for extended periods.@

I'm a real believe in Intel's Core 2 Duo for a processor. I'm using the E6700 with 2gig of RAM and my video card is a NVIDIA 7950GX2.

I'm using Sony Vegas Platinum edition but runs very well on my machine and rendering is surprisingly fast.

You can't use the laptop monitor for a desktop.

No laptop monitos. And best comps for adobe products would be intels, get at least a gig of ram of more + a decent video card, at least a 7600 gt nvidia, or prefferably a ATI radeon 9800 xt
