The eyes are generally big, but that can vary a little. Sometimes the hair color is an unusual hue (ie: pink, green, blue) and you should not be afraid to experament with some different styles. It's ok to be crazy with manga. As far as outfits go, just use your imagination. Anything goes, pretty much. It's okay to draw from well-known manga series, but it's really better to draw your own characters since it helps your creativity. If you need somewhere to start, research Inuyasha, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Bleach on the internet...they're some of my favorite anime series and have inspired a lot of my work. Good luck!

I've tried drawing manga, but at first I was horrible at it, and I quit, but a month later I suddenly could draw manga better then before, although I don't know why...I guess experience counts.
You have to practice a lot. THere are a lot of different styles for drawing manga. You should buy books on how to draw manga, and figure out which style works for you, or you should just make up your own.
If you're a manga fan, then just look at the manga that you're interested in and try to copy from it. That will also help you to get better.

Well, i draw shouju alot and i realized (I'm a little slow with these kinds of things) that the younger the charafter the bigger the head and eyes. Big hair is also very popular in shoju.
