Attention seeking colour that tends to draw the eye. I don't know if it's just me but say if I'm walking down the street and spot a small object in my path I tend to look more closely if it's yellow. More a reflex in a way. Maybe I've watched too many nature programs and associate it too easily as a warning colour. It's the difference between spotting something easily and clearly and the same but with an added aspect of scrutiny in comparing yellow with other bright colours that also attract the eye. Excuse my longwindedness if there is such a word, just a thought hope it helps. Good luck with the project. Male...

Female: Of course there are many shades of it but in general I find it harsh, I don't know why. It makes me fell uneasy. When I say that, I have a mild to bright yellow in mind. My living room is a dark shade of cream that could almost be described as a pale yellow and I find it very calming though, perhaps it is just the red trim that lifts my mood. I look terrible wearing yellow so I generally stay away from it. Bile is yellow and so is pus, only bad things immediately come to mind (even though I know there are good things like smiley faces and butter) so perhaps it is buried deep in my psyche! On the whole, I would rate it low in my favorites, as far as colors go, but I don't enirely hate it..

Female - overly bright light, heat. Unless it's a very light yellow, this color generally doesn't make me feel good. Even then, it's too warm. Like after I've been running on a hot day and could really use a drink of water.
Responding to the previous answer - my bedroom walls were also painted yellow - too yellow.

It makes me think of phony happiness. I see that color and I have flashing memories of crying as a child and having to have a bedtime. I think of the temper tantrums I had. I associate it with a certain smell that related to me crying as a child. It's a negative feeling.
This is all because my bedroom walls were painted yellow from before I was born until I moved out at 19. I always hated the color yellow yet I never bothered to paint my bedroom. I never felt I could relate to that color (if that makes any sense). I just think of being in my crib and being angry all the time that I was being forced to go to sleep. It would normally make me think of happy, bright sunny thoughts but a few negative childhood memories ruined that.
I'm female

That mucky yellowy colour is one of the most horrible same as sick and pus and makes me feel sick and disgusted and general eurrgh. The Bright yellow reminds me of blinding lights and having the sun in my eyes so annoys me . I never get a happy feeling from yellow i find it an overall irritating and sickly colour.
Although that really light yellow is nice cos thats the colour of lemon cheesecakes and they are tasty.
I am female

I've always felt yellow was a warm color that made me cheerful but ever since I read Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment, I can't seem to think about yellow without asociating it with sickness and poverty. By the way I'm female.

To me, yellow is a happy color. My kitchen is painted yellow and white with cobalt blue accents. I love to be in the kitchen because it is so cheerful. I call it my happy room.
On the flip side, I don't like to wear the color yellow because it doesn't look good with my skin tones.
