Well it is worth buying an expensive brand because they do work well, something like Clarins or Clinique, Dermalogica. But if you cant afford that try using pure Jojoba oil, I get it from health stores. It is really good and affordable, its like a super moisturiser you can use it in many different ways too. Its very light and best used at night. I used to get flaky dry patches on my face but ever since I started using pure Jojoba oil I havent seen any dry patches.

Well,If you can afford the international brand then try garnier, lakme(or) this is home made recipe and it very simple
Take some curd and some sugar and mix it very well.Apply it no your skin and leave it on for about one or two hours and wash you face with cold milk. This recipe not only moisturizes your skin , it also act as very effective fairness enhancer and softens your skin.If you shave it make your skin harder. To avoid that after shaving wash your face with milk which softens your skin.
This is an another Indian recipe
-Take some turmeric
-Mix the turmeric with water
-Mix in an propotion like semisolid
-Apply it on your skin for round 2-3 hours
-Wash your face very nicely that thereshould no trace of turmeric
-If you use turmeric on your face it stops the growth of beard or mustash
Both the recipes do not have any side effects like chemical based
creams. These are traditional Tamil Nadu recipes of India.

Mash 1 tablespoon of ripe banana and add to it 1 tablespoon honey. Apply this mask on the affected area and leave it to dry. Then wash it off with cold water. This mask acts as a moisturizer .You can find more cheap, effective and natural home remedies for dry skin at the link below.

Every night before you go too sleep, wash your face with baby soap and then apply vitamin E oil and massage it gently... during the day have a mask of yogurt (plain with whole fat), let it dry and wash it with water only, when you go out in the sun use any simple sun blocker (not the very strong one dough), you will see the deference in a month, it is amazing.

I can't recommend anything specifically because everyone's skin is different. I use Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion, and they also have it in a stronger cream version. If anything, look for 'cream' formulas rather than 'lotions'--they tend to be for dryer skin, and tend to stay on longer. Creams tend to come in jars while lotions come in bottles. If your skin isn't acne-prone, definitely don't be afraid to use things with lots of oils.
Hope this helps, I always have dry hands and elbows, so I know how you're feeling. :\

Shea butter - it's thick and good for your skin. I only use it at night, because it has a scent, and then a lighter moisturizer during the day.
