20 yr ago,winters were usually cooler than now, but not a lot. The further back you go, the greater the extremities of cold in winter and heat in summer were. 50 years ago in the North West of Britain there would be a spell of 5-6 weeks in the winter when snow and ice never departed. We made slides in the school playground and they lasted for ages. Summers of 1975 and 1976 were two of the hottest I remember until last year.

You had snow most years. The snow would be a good few deep each time and snow drifts were fantastic. Summers weren't too bad with the odd hot one.

The main difference I see now is that fields etc.. always seem to be boggy/wet

Not much change although it was colder for longer , and the seasons were sharper at changing, most daffs would not show till mid april
