I had unusual, heavy bleeding for four days which is long for me, then it stopped. A week later, i have a light bleeding for two days. i went in for a blood pregnancy test an hour ago as the doctor suggested. i am seeing a fertility doctor and i was on pregnyl, puregon, & orgalutran my last cycle. i had 3 healthy follicles and iui. how likely is it that i miscarried but still maintained a pregnancy? any thoughts would be helpful. thanks!

I was pregnant and started bleeding really heavily I went to my dr and I had miscarried a few weeks later I went in just for a check up after the miscarriage and my Dr did a pregnancy test he said he thought he felt something I was indeed pregnant he concluded that I was carrying twins and lost one of the babies as my body couldn't handle it he also suggested (I HAVE ALL BOYS)
that I may not be able to carry girls I still don't understand that fully something with hormones though

It's entirely possible to miscarry one twin. I know someone (now a healthy adult) whose twin miscarried.

http://www.drspock.com/article/0,1510,5088,00.html says:

"Miscarriage of one twin
Sometimes one twin will miscarry, leaving the other to develop on its own. If this happens early in the first trimester, bleeding and the passage of tissue may occur or the mother's body may simply absorb it. A miscarriage that takes place later than three or four months' gestation requires close observation, usually by a specialist."

Of course, you will go to a doctor and find out for sure anyway. Good luck! :o)
